F o o d

need some food in my belly
need some drink for the dry in my throat
need for the world to recognize it
everybody's in the same holey boat

you know it ain't right for people to go hungry
with all the food being thrown away
just because it ain't the right size or perfect
'cause you can't turn a fast dollar that way
and you know it ain't right to make people grow coffee
when their families could be growing food
working those lands for corporations
don't do hungry people no good
people need food in their bellies
need some drink for the dry in their throats
need for the world to recognize it
everybody's in the same holey boat

you know it ain't right to cut the trees down
just to grow a bunch of cheap hamburger meat
you know those trees they hold the topsoil
and those burgers aren't fit to eat
and you know it ain't right to punish the farmers
for growing food clean and poison-free
oughta be a govenment to protect them
put tax dollars where they need to be
people need food in their bellies
need some drink for the dry in their throats
need for the world to recognize it
everybody's in the same holey boat

but you know we spend twenty-five million on a movie
not even worth being shown on teevee
then we spend two billion dollars on an airplane
we claim nobody else can see
then we spend eight hundred billion on defenses
planning new ways to blow each other around
but even one percent of that budget
could stop a whole lot of hungry sounds
people need food in their bellies
need some drink for the dry in their throats
need for the world to recognize it
everybody's in the same holey boat
everybody's in the same holey boat
kind of makes me wonder if we're gonna stay afloat...

T h e M e s s A g e

Listen to your messages
Come out of your head
Open up your vision
Follow through your thread
Who knows what truth is
Or what we'll never find
nothing is for certain
nothing's left behind

So every choice is another door
Who could ask for more
Like every day's another dream
After what came after before
If you've got the number
Push it at the tone
even if you're by yourself,
you're probably not alone

Everything needs water
And every soul breathes world
Expressing these emotions
Must be what we came here for
Listen to your dreams here
Come out of the words
don't just use your eyeballs
silence must be heard

I been talking with the trees here
They remind me of my home
Though nowhere in this universe
Is there a fixed abode
With basho on my shoulder
And the sunlight on my eyes
everyday's a miracle
like falling through the skies

So listen to your messages
Come out of your head
Open up your vision
Follow through the thread
You have touched a heartbeat
iIhave reached my cells
a sound to me
appealing as bells
a-pealing like bells...
